The MLB season has seen many changes to the pace of play.
A pitch timer has been introduced as well as limiting the number of disengagements a pitcher can have.
While those rules have worked out well in the first season, some MLB players are hoping for more changes.
One rule that has been talked about a ton is introducing robot umpires.
MLB umpiring has been poor at points during this season.
That is why a robot umpire can make calls consistent each time.
Ke’Bryan Hayes of the Pittsburgh Pirates is ready to see a change made.
He took a screenshot of a 3-1 pitch that was called a strike despite not being close to the strike zone.
Some umpires really don’t care. 3-1 call not even close. I hold him accountable after the game walking off the field and his response is “🤷🏽♂️ I gave you a chance to hit a homerun” that tells me you don’t care at all. No accountability. Bring the ABS please @MLB pic.twitter.com/sgncakv8v8

Hayes accused this umpire of not caring, and also that the umpire told him: “I gave you a chance to hit a home run.”
If true, this is a terrible look for this umpire.
His job is to call the game as fairly as possible, not try to make a joke of it.
Hayes is one player who openly wants the robot umpires.
There are probably many more who have yet to come out and say it.
Most likely, there will be a day when the robot umpires do take over behind the plate.
But, that seems like a topic of conversation for the offseason.
If calls continue to get missed night in and night out MLB may have no other choice.
This postseason will be significant for all umpires.
If they struggle to make the right calls with everything on the line, more teams and players could be calling for them to be replaced.
