With the NFL season just around the corner, we can already go ahead and start making our picks and predictions for who’s going to be the best quarterback in the league in 2023.
Of course, the AFC features the most talent at that position, with Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson, and more.
But the NFC is not short on talent either, and PFF recently ranked the top-five starting QBs there.

At No. 5, they chose Derek Carr, who’ll definitely have a lot to prove in his first year with the New Orleans Saints, playing with a chip on his shoulder after being the fall guy for Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Matthew Stafford gets the nod at No. 4, which is kind of crazy, considering he’s two years off winning a Super Bowl and proving that he could be a perennial MVP candidate with the proper supporting cast.
Maybe health is the only thing that could hold him back next season.
Talking about health, Dak Prescott sits at the third spot, and he’s already shown the potential to be one of the league’s finest, but his floor is also one of the lowest.
You never know what version of him you’ll get.
A similar thing happens with No. 2, Kirk Cousins, who looks like prime Aaron Rodgers against bad teams and like JaMarcus Russell against contenders.
There’s no surprise at No. 1, as Jalen Hurts got the nod after a spectacular, MVP-caliber season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and he’s once again expected to lead his team to the big game in 2023.
