Recently, NBA fans put Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce on blast.
Pierce got himself into dangerous waters with Miami Heat fans — again –, stating that he would’ve won more championships if he had the same kind of teammates as Dwyane Wade, citing LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and Chris Bosh.
The small forward claimed that he would’ve had the same amount of rings as Wade, which obviously led to some serious backlash on social media.
That’s why the 2008 NBA Champion had to take to Twitter to clarify his comments.
I never compared myself to Dwayne wade I was ask a question how would u answer if u was me I would never disrespect him he is an all time great all I’m saying is the narrative surrounding me would be different if I was lucky enough to play with all timers earlier in my career…

Per Pierce, he didn’t intend to take a shot at Wade, who’s obviously an all-time great.
He wasn’t trying to diss guys like Kevin Garnett or Rajon Rondo, either.
Pierce claims all he tried to say is that the narrative around players like him, Tracy McGrady, Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, or even Vince Carter would be quite different if they had been lucky enough to have the same kind of teammates as Wade had.
Notably, none of those players ever won a title, unlike Pierce, who reached the NBA Finals twice and took one ring home.
Pierce had his fair share of superstar teammates, although he does have a valid point about them arriving toward the backend of his career.
Even so, he’s never had any kind of love for the Heat or their players, and he’s had more than enough questionable takes about his former rivals in the past, so it’s easy to understand why fans didn’t want to give him the benefit of the doubt.
