When the Denver Nuggets drafted Nikola Jokic using the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, no one expected him to become the superstar that he is today.
In fact, Jokic has surpassed all expectations set for him before playing in the league.
After all, he has won one NBA Championship, one NBA Finals MVP, and two NBA MVPs, among various accolades during his career.
However, one thing that fascinates fans about Nikola Jokic is none other than the simplicity of his game.
Although Jokic’s playing style is extremely simple, it’s quite effective in troubling opponents.
A perfect example of this is the number of triple-doubles that Nikola Jokic has already recorded in his career.
On that note, Jokic became part of history following his triple-double performance against the Boston Celtics.
To be precise, Jokic has become only the fourth player in NBA history to have multiple seasons with more than 20 triple-doubles, as revealed via NBA History on Twitter.
Nikola Jokic just recorded his 20th triple-double of the season, which makes him the 4th player in NBA history to do so in multiple seasons after recording 29 last season, joining:
Oscar Robertson – 5x (1960-61, 1961-62, 1962-63, 1963-64, 1964-65)
Russell Westbrook – 4x… pic.twitter.com/YL3bieGsWN— NBA History (@NBAHistory) March 8, 2024
As mentioned in the above-attached tweet, Nikola Jokic recorded 29 triple-doubles last season, and he has already reached 20 triple-doubles this season.
Following this achievement, Jokic has joined the company of Oscar Robertson, Russell Westbrook, and Wilt Chamberlain.
As of now, Robertson holds the record for having the most seasons with more than 20 triple-doubles in a season, with five.
Westbrook has four such seasons, while Chamberlain and Jokic are tied with two each.
However, considering Jokic is still 29 years old, there is a chance he can at least tie Robertson’s record once it’s all said and done.
