The Arizona Cardinals are in a strange spot, as they went into the season with playoff expectations, yet are sitting at 3-5 and firmly in last place in the NFC West behind a trio of legitimate contenders.
While they did just end a five-game losing streak on Monday Night Football with a resounding win over the Dallas Cowboys, the future is now up in the air with quarterback Kyler Murray reportedly being slated to miss more time than expected with a foot injury.
Nick Wright of First Things First believes things could get even messier, as he thinks the Kyler Murray era is now done in Arizona.
“We’ve seen his play and the team fall off mid-season every year. He’s not a great leader,” Wright said.

Jacoby Brissett has gotten the Cardinals’ offense to be more productive over the past three weeks since he has been the starter, as he has guided the team to 77 points in three games after Murray led the offense to more than 21 points just once over the first five games.
Murray is signed to a five-year, $230 million contract that runs through 2028, and head coach Jonathan Gannon has been adamant that he will remain the starting quarterback once he is healthy.
Brissett isn’t a long-term solution, but he has helped the team in the short term and could be the starter longer than many anticipated.
Murray was ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks very early in the week, which is a good indicator that he isn’t too close to returning from his foot injury.
Or, it could speak to the fact that the organization is losing faith in its franchise QB.
Only time will tell.
