The future of the Dallas Cowboys took a twist this past weekend after an embarrassing Wild Card defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.
Questions about the future of head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott ran rampant after yet another early postseason exit.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones quickly silenced those concerns after he committed to McCarthy for the 2024 season, and now McCarthy has given his endorsement of Prescott as Dallas’ quarterback of the future.
“I believe in Dak Prescott,” McCarthy said, per the Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins. “He’s clearly the answer and the solution going forward.”

While the short-term future of the Cowboys has been decided and confirmed, there is still the overarching concern that neither McCarthy nor Prescott would return in 2025 if this upcoming season ends similarly.

The defense looked the worst, but Prescott threw two first-half interceptions – one of which was returned for a touchdown.
Prescott and McCarthy have had successful regular seasons in Dallas during their respective tenures with the Cowboys, but that might not be enough to satisfy Jones and fans alike.
This will be an important offseason for the franchise that is trying to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1995.
Changes are on the horizon – just not at head coach or quarterback … yet.
