The Green Bay Packers‘ offense has left a lot to be desired this season. Their defense, however, has been solid for the most part.
Surprisingly, that hasn’t been the case with Rashan Gary. Some expected the defensive lineman to thrive playing with Micah Parsons, but he’s regressed instead.
Things may have reached a new low in their Week 11 win against the New York Giants, and head coach Matt LaFleur spoke out about the defender’s worrisome snap count.
“LaFleur gave a few reasons for Rashan Gary playing only 39 defensive snaps on Sunday. He’s never been a high-snap guy. A byproduct of how the game went. [Kingsley] Enagbare earning more snaps,” Rob Demovsky wrote on X.

Gary has always been a productive player, but he’s at a career low in pressure rate this season. Instead of making the most of the blocking attention on Parsons, Gary has been coming up short more often than not.
The defense has kept the Packers in playoff contention, and even though they have plenty of weapons on offense, LaFleur hasn’t always maximized them. So, having Gary at less than his usual level on the other side of the ball may hurt this team when it matters most.
There’s plenty of football left to be played, and it might take just one good game to break out of his slump and return to his usual ways. This will be a situation to keep a close eye on in Week 12 when the Packers host the Minnesota Vikings.
