The Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls battled it out on Sunday night, giving fans a double-overtime thriller that eventually resulted in the Jazz winning 150-147. As you can guess, multiple Utah players were doing well, but Lauri Markkanen was leading the way.
He posted 47 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals during the game, which was just the latest strong showing from the 28-year-old forward. Following the game, he spoke with the press about how he’s been playing lately and how his whole team has been performing.
“I think I’m getting good looks. My teammates setting screens and finding me wasn’t different tonight. They did a great job. Feels good to see a couple go down. But, obviously, I don’t know if I’ve ever shot 33 times in a game. I’m sure that helps,” Markkanen said.

Markkanen shot the ball 33 times, sinking 15 of his attempts. He also landed six of his 17 three-point attempts.
So far this year, Markkanen is averaging 30.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 47.9 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from the three-point line. If those numbers hold, that will be the best points average of his career.
A lot of people expected the Jazz to sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings all season long, but that hasn’t been the case. Their 5-8 record isn’t amazing, of course, but it’s better than some analysts and fans predicted.
They are currently the tenth team in the West, which is a big accomplishment for this squad. However, a lot of people fear they won’t be able to stay in that position for the entire season.
As for Markkanen, he is once again the most important player for his team, and he could help them for the rest of the season. At the same time, there are rumors that Markkanen could be traded to another franchise this year, and games like this one are only raising his value on the market.
