Kyrie Irving hasn’t been able to play with the Dallas Mavericks for a few weeks because of a thumb injury that sidelined him on January 22.
But he is now set to return to the Mavericks on Monday night as they face off against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Speaking to Brad Townsend and the press, Irving opened up about the frustration he feels when he gets hurt.
But he also continues to look at the big picture and not rush his body to recover, knowing he can come back stronger than ever if he really takes care of himself and rehabilitates his injury.
“I try not to get too ahead of myself and just wait until my body is in a good place,” Irving said.

Since losing Irving, the Mavericks have been defeated in four of their last six games.
They have been taken down by some tough teams, with the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Milwaukee Bucks each handling them.
Fans can’t help but wonder if the team would have been able to secure at least one or two wins with Irving, who is averaging 25.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
Now that Irving is back, Dallas will try to climb higher than their current eighth seed and attempt to look like strong playoff contenders again.
Irving has been in the league for 12 years now and he has experienced a ton of injuries during that time.
Despite that, he has been a pivotal part of every team he has played for.
There were many who doubted the impact he’d have on the Mavericks when he joined last season, especially after things got off to a rocky start.
They are still far from perfect but Irving works very well alongside Luka Doncic and greatly enhances the team’s offensive skills.
They will be happy to have him back, especially after a few inconsistent weeks.
