If the Dallas Mavericks are going to have a chance in 2025-26, they will need to remain healthy.
They are already short-handed because they are without Kyrie Irving, and there are worries about Anthony Davis, so they can’t have more damage get in their way.
Unfortunately, another injury just hit the team.
According to Tim MacMahon, Daniel Gafford rolled his ankle during the first day of training camp and is expected to miss two to three weeks.

This isn’t the worst news because it sounds like the injury isn’t that severe, but it’s still concerning.
If this is a sign of things to come, the season could be troubled for the Mavericks.
Gafford was a tremendous help for the team last year, averaging 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds during his 57 games.
He is a big part of the team’s frontcourt plans, and they want him back as soon as possible.
Two to three weeks is his estimated timetable, but that’s only if his recovery goes smoothly.
And even when he feels better, head coach Jason Kidd will need to be careful so Gafford’s injury doesn’t flare up again.
The Mavericks are eager to have a great season, especially with Cooper Flagg in the lineup and the Luka Doncic trade drama behind them.
They know that they’re not at 100 percent because Irving is still recovering, but they believe they have a chance to be a force in the West.
Of course, if injuries start to stack up, their chances will diminish quickly.
Hopefully, no more bad news plagues the team before the season starts in a few weeks.
