NBA players recently took offense at track and field star Noah Lyles’ comments.
Lyles claimed that he doesn’t understand why NBA players claim to be world champions even though the league is only played in the United States, comparing it to how difficult it was to win a world title in his sport.
While he didn’t criticize NBA players or take a shot at them, several figures from the league didn’t care for his comments.
The likes of Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Tyus Jones, Udonis Haslem, Aaron Gordon, and Devin Booker took to Instagram to call him out and mock him.

Of course, there’s absolutely no denying that the NBA is the best basketball league on Earth, and the fact that it features players from all over the world could make a case for a team to be a world champion.
Also, it’s hard to argue that no team outside of the NBA could compete with, say, the Denver Nuggets in a seven-game series, but that’s beyond the point.
Also, NBA — literally — means National Basketball Association, so Lyles had a more than valid point, and there’s no need to take offense at those comments.
NBA players are perhaps the most elite athletes in the world, but their egos can be kind of fragile at times.NEXT: Video Shows Devin Booker Dominating Recent Pickup Game
