There is no doubt that Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets is one of the best basketball players alive, a future Hall of Famer who is easily one of the smartest, most accomplished, and most impressive superstars the league currently has.
Even if you don’t like the guy you have to admit that he’s something truly special.
However, that wasn’t always a unanimous opinion.
Can I take a victory lap or I gotta wait until I retire? @ColinCowherd https://t.co/eiaOmVB7O8

Durant retweeted a clip of sports analyst Colin Cowherd from the year 2007 when Durant was a young college student eligible for the draft.
Cowherd was not too keen on Durant’s chances in the league and tore into the future star, saying how much better the eventual number one pick, Greg Oden, was over him.
That hot take ended up being ice cold and Durant couldn’t help by poke fun at it on Twitter, saying, “Can I take a victory lap now or I gotta wait until I retire?”
There’s no way around this: Cowherd was just dead wrong about Durant.
In fact, many people were.
“Just Another Wing Guy”
Cowherd’s concerns about Durant revolved around the fact that he wasn’t able to bench press 180 pounds at the NBA pre-draft camp.
Because of this, Cowherd felt that Oden was a much better pick and was stronger and more impressive than Durant.
In fact, he even called Durant “just another wing guy” and heavily suggested that he didn’t have what it took to make it through an entire NBA season.
Oh, how wrong he was.
In the end, it was Oden who sadly suffered a bad fate in the league and ended up being one of the biggest draft busts of all time.
As for Durant, he has two rings and is still considered one of the best on the floor.
And he might still not be able to bench press 180 pounds.
