The Jacksonville Jaguars don’t usually make headlines for positive news, but head coach Liam Coen’s first season has fans hopeful about the future. Regardless of who’s in charge, the team has always been able to count on its top pass rusher.
Veteran defensive end Josh Hines-Allen made franchise history in Week 11. He logged his 56th career sack in the win against the Los Angeles Chargers, and he reacted to setting a new Jaguars record.
“56 and counting. Man, to break this record in front of Duval is special. I came here as a young guy with a dream, and Jacksonville gave me everything. A place to grow, a place to build my family, and a place to call home. This record belongs to this city just as much as it belongs to me,” Hines-Allen wrote on X.

Hines-Allen is another example of an outstanding player who rarely gets the credit or national recognition he deserves because of the team he plays for. A first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, he’s been one of the prime pass rushers in the league for years, yet his name is rarely mentioned when talking about such players.
He made the most of the Chargers’ injury-riddled offensive line to get to quarterback Justin Herbert, and he was pivotal in disrupting their offensive rhythm. The Jaguars have playoff hopes, even after some tough losses in games they should’ve won.
Hines-Allen is going to keep adding sacks to his tally. At this rate, he might go down as the greatest defensive player in franchise history.
