The Green Bay Packers need everybody to step up. They’re banged up, and they will have to get by that way.
That’s why it was nice to see Savion Williams rise to the occasion in Week 11 against the New York Giants. He made a crucial catch on third down, and after the victory, Jordan Love had high praise for the young Packers wide receiver.
“Kind of went off schedule. I was in the pocket. I had time. Didn’t like the initial read and just went on scramble and told [Savion] to go deep. He did a good job wheeling up. Just threw him up a 50-50 ball and he made a big-time catch for us. Really phenomenal play by him,” Love said.

The Packers’ win came at a price. This time, running back Josh Jacobs had to leave with a knee injury, and though it’s reportedly not season-ending, he might not be able to suit up for their Week 12 divisional matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
That would make Emanuel Wilson the primary back. It might also finally force head coach Matt LaFleur to give his quarterback a longer leash.
Love played a good game at New York, all things considered. His receivers dropped five passes, some of them in crucial situations, once again making it even more important that Williams came down with that reception.
The Packers will have a next-man-up mentality for the remainder of the season. Williams and his teammates will have to make the most of every opportunity they get to prove that they can contribute to a playoff run.
