LeBron James is playing at a level that few people expected from a 40-year-old basketball player.
No one has performed like James at this age and he continues to put up amazing games night after night.
Following Thursday night’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers, head coach JJ Redick spoke about James, his work ethic, his drive, and his skills.
“He’s a billionaire and he’s playing on the second night of a back-to-back at 40 after 22 years with every freaking record and accolade. And the kids will say I’m glazing him. He’s one of the greatest competitors,” Redick said, per Jacob Rude, via Legion Hoops.

Redick’s comments came just moments after James posted 40 points against the Blazers.
It was a sensational showing from James, which isn’t surprising but still impressive, especially now that he is 40 years old.
James has been terrific all season long, even as the team around him has changed and he has suffered an injury or two.
Season 22 has given more proof that James will never stop playing at a high level until he is literally forced to.
With the addition of Luka Doncic, there is a chance that James will be more of a facilitator in the months ahead.
Fans aren’t quite sure how the pairing of James and Doncic will look and Redick is clearly still figuring it out.
But if Doncic can take some of the pressure off of James, it means we might get the four-time champion for several more seasons.
There is a chance that the Doncic trade gives James an even longer career and more chances to dominate in his forties.
Even at this age and even after all he has accomplished, James doesn’t want to slow down, and that is why Redick thinks there aren’t many other competitors like him.
