The Philadelphia Eagles won the James Bradberry sweepstakes.
There were a large number of teams interested to acquire him after his release from the New York Giants.
The Giants tried to find a trade partner for him but to no avail.
Teams chose to fill their void in the secondary via the 2022 NFL Draft.
Likewise, his high cap count discouraged teams who are saving cap space for their rookies.
But with the draft over and teams gearing up for offseason workouts, the Eagles pulled off another shocker by signing Bradberry.
The 28-year-old defensive back shared to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson his reason for joining the squad.

Anderson tweeted, “Text just now from CB James Bradberry on why he chose to sign with the #Eagles: ‘I believe the scheme is a perfect fit for me.’ #NewBeginnings in the #NFCEast.”
Bradberry will be lining up opposite Darius Slay in one of the NFL’s best cornerback tandems.
They are the only two cornerbacks who have more than 15 interceptions and 80 passes deflected since 2016.
Those numbers indicate the grueling ordeal opposing teams must endure against the talented duo.
Likewise, he will be joining a defensive unit that has Josh Sweat, Javon Hargrave, Kyzir White, Haason Reddick, and Derek Barnett.
Rookies Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean could also make an immediate impact.
Bradberry Wants Payback Against The Giants
Sure, Bradberry is joining a unit that suits his capabilities well.
But in the back of his mind, he wants to make the Giants feel sorry for releasing him.
Those games will have a special mark on his calendar and he will play at his best.
He should still be on the team, if not for Dave Gettleman’s salary cap mismanagement.
Therefore, Bradberry wants to make his former team pay when they face him.
