Jahmyr Gibbs was a massive part of the Detroit Lions‘ win against the Washington Commanders in Week 10. With his three touchdowns, Gibbs helped his team keep pace in the NFC North.
He also joined historic company with his rare running back stats.
“Gibbs, who led the NFL with 20 touchdowns scored in 2024, now has 41 in his young career. There are only four players in the history of the NFL with more touchdowns than Gibbs before their 24th birthday and they are all certified-platinum Hall of Famers: Barry Sanders (47 touchdowns), Randy Moss (44), Emmitt Smith (43) and Jim Brown (42). Gibbs turns 24 on March 20 and will have the rest of the 2025 season to add to that total,” Dante Koplowitz-Fleming wrote.
Gibbs carried the ball 15 times for 142 yards against Washington, just the latest great game for the 23-year-old two-time Pro Bowler.
The performance came as the Lions made an important change on the sidelines. Head coach Dan Campbell took over play-calling duties from offensive coordinator John Morton, and that seemed to work magic for Gibbs.
That probably isn’t the only reason why Gibbs was doing so well, but it clearly was the right move, and Campbell will surely keep making calls going forward. The Lions face the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in a highly anticipated Week 11 matchup, and they are hoping for more explosive output from Gibbs.
