The Arizona Cardinals needed an offensive spark in Week 11. They didn’t get it, but it wasn’t the quarterback’s fault.
Jacoby Brissett was a busy man in the home loss to the San Francisco 49ers. As a matter of fact, this may have been the busiest the longtime veteran has ever been on a football field.
Brissett set an NFL record with a wild QB stat.
“Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett completed an NFL record 47 passes today,” Adam Schefter wrote on X.

Brissett attempted 57 passes, completing 47 for 452 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He broke the previous record for completions, which was shared by Drew Bledsoe (1994) and Jared Goff (2019) with 45 completions each.
Unfortunately, Brissett’s workload didn’t translate into a better outcome. The banged-up Cardinals fell behind early and wound up losing for the seventh time in their past eight games.
This might be the end of the line for Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon. The Cardinals will reportedly move on from franchise QB Kyler Murray this offseason, but it’s not like Gannon has done much to prove that he should be given the benefit of the doubt for much longer, either.
While no one thought that Brissett was going to be a long-term solution, losing a game when he passed for almost 500 yards speaks volumes about the state of the team.
