Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a significant left wrist injury during the team’s recent win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Initial evaluations suggested a possible slight break, leading to further diagnostic testing to assess the severity and establish a recovery timeline.
The injury raised immediate questions about his availability moving forward. NFL reporters Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport provided updated information on Rodgers’ condition following additional medical examinations conducted on Monday.
“Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers underwent further tests Monday that confirmed he won’t need surgery on his fractured left wrist, sources tell me and [Ian Rapoport]. Rodgers is pushing to play Sunday at Chicago. But doctors must clear him and his status moving forward is TBD,” Pelissero posted on X.

Rodgers joined Pittsburgh on a one-year contract this offseason in what many view as the closing stretch of his 21-year career. He spent 18 seasons with Green Bay before arriving in Pittsburgh, compiling a 24-5 regular-season record and 1-0 playoff mark against Chicago during that time.
The upcoming matchup with the Bears appears to be driving his determination to play through the fractured wrist. The Steelers have not confirmed whether Rodgers will be cleared for Week 12 against Chicago.
His veteran status limits the necessity for full practice participation, but medical clearance remains the deciding factor. Backup quarterback Mason Rudolph is prepared to start if Rodgers cannot play.
Rudolph entered the game against Cincinnati in relief and performed well in limited action. He completed 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown, helping secure Pittsburgh’s 34-12 victory.
His readiness provides the Steelers with a capable option should Rodgers remain sidelined beyond this week. The organization will continue monitoring the situation as Sunday approaches.
