The NFC South was won by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, with a record of just 8-9.
This was with Tom Brady as their quarterback.
Now that he is retired, the division is officially up for grabs.
While every team certainly has a fair chance at the title, recent comments from members of the Atlanta Falcons indicate that they believe they have heightened odds.
As Grady Jarrett commented via SiriusXM NFL Radio and the NFL’s website, “We ain’t going out there just to lay down to nobody.”

Jarrett has a strong belief in this team, despite finishing the 2022 season with a record of 7-10.
However, the New Orleans Saints, Buccaneers, and Carolina Panthers are all entering the upcoming season with new starting quarterbacks.
This doesn’t guarantee the Falcons a playoff spot, but it does give them a small advantage.
They have added a lot of pieces throughout the offseason in hopes of not only improving on their 2022 record but fighting for the division lead as well.
The Falcons struggled on both sides of the ball last season, but they’ve added star-caliber players to both units.
Of note are Jessie Bates III, Calais Campbell, and Bud Dupree, along with new first-round draftee Bijan Robinson.
Now that the team has made these investments on offense and defense, it’s time for the on-field talent to match the expectations the organization has placed upon them.
Will the Falcons be able to find the level of success that Jarrett believes they can?
Or, will they find themselves with another top-ten draft position, hoping to find another elite prospect?
