The Dallas Cowboys‘ decision to trade for George Pickens drew mixed reviews.
On the one hand, the wide receiver’s talent and potential were undeniable.
On the other hand, there were multiple worrisome reports about his demeanor and character, and after watching him get involved in multiple fights and throw tantrums on and off the field, there were concerns about how he’d handle a potential contract extension.
So far, he’s proved that Dallas was right to acquire him from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Not only has he been productive for quarterback Dak Prescott, he’s also been mature about his role behind top wideout CeeDee Lamb, as they’ve created a bond that transcends teammates.
“When you got a tandem, two guys that could be great, they kind of feed off each other in everything they do. That’s going to the lunch room at the same time, catching jugs at the same time, tossing the ball around at the same time. We kind of do everything together. He’s kind of a brother,” Pickens said of Lamb.

Pickens has yet to be given that extension, and given the way Cowboys owner Jerry Jones usually handles business, that’s not going to happen any time soon.
That doesn’t mean it won’t, though.
Chances are, the Cowboys will drag out those talks until they can’t anymore, just to wind up overpaying.
Pickens has the potential to be a primary weapon on any team, but the consistency wasn’t there in Pittsburgh.
Granted, the Cowboys’ offense is more creative and proficient than the Steelers’, but it’s easy to see that Pickens has taken a different approach in Dallas.
With Lamb by his side, the Cowboys could have one of the best tandems in the league for years to come.
