The last few weeks have been frustrating for Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks.
After talking trash to and about LeBron James, he and his team lost to James’ Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs in six games, ending what had once looked like a very promising season.
Brooks came out of that series looking bad, especially after refusing to talk to the media after three of the Grizzlies’ losses.
But he did receive a consolation prize of sorts on Tuesday when he was voted onto the NBA’s All-Defensive Second Team.

Brooks has been considered one of the NBA’s best defenders for a while, even if his offensive production has been very inefficient.
With his help, the Grizzlies finished the regular season with the league’s third-best defensive rating, as well as the second-best record in the Western Conference.
In mid-January, they had rolled off an 11-game winning streak, and some were starting to consider them legitimate contenders for the world championship.
But they blew a sizable lead and lost to the Lakers, ending their winning streak in something of a prelude to what took place in the playoffs.
Brooks has been involved in some notable incidents lately, starting with his flagrant foul on the Golden State Warriors’ Gary Payton II in last year’s playoffs, which caused the guard to fracture his elbow and miss the next few weeks.
In Game 3 versus the Lakers, Brooks was ejected on a flagrant 2 foul for hitting James in the groin.
