New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers entered October facing surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus, while also managing a partially torn labrum and turf toe.
Initially, doctors debated whether the labrum required surgical intervention, but ultimately, they opted against it.
Nabers has now been placed on injured reserve, officially sidelining him for the rest of the season.
The setback devastated New York’s offensive plans, but there’s still optimism surrounding his potential return next year.
On Thursday, head coach Brian Daboll offered an update on Nabers’s recovery timeline, shedding light on the star receiver’s path back.
“Daboll said Malik Nabers hasn’t had his surgery yet. My understanding is they’re still waiting for swelling to go down. Expect the surgery within the next week or so,” The Athletic’s Dan Duggan posted on X.

Nabers went down with a knee injury while stretching for a deep pass along the right sideline during Week 4’s 21-18 win over the Chargers.
He grabbed his right leg mid-air and hit the turf hard, immediately signaling the severity of the play.
The Giants barely got a glimpse of Nabers on the field this season.
He lined up with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart for only 25 snaps before his season ended prematurely.
With the energy that Dart and Cam Skattebo have already injected into the offense, Nabers could have been a dynamic addition to that trio.
Last season, as a rookie in 2024, Nabers set a franchise record with 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.
This year, before the injury, he had already tallied 18 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns, showing he was building on that impressive start.
The focus now shifts to ensuring he makes a full recovery from his knee injury.
