On Friday, Team USA and Germany went head-to-head in the semifinals of the FIBA World Cup, with the winner set to go to the final with the opportunity to win gold against either Canada or Serbia.
Although Team USA has been the favorite throughout the entire tournament and had already beat Germany once in the early going, Dennis Schroder and company came to play on Friday with a trip to the final on the line.
It was a hard-fought battle between the Germans and Americans from start to finish, but in the end, Schroder was able to help lead his team to a two-point victory.
After advancing to the final of the FIBA World Cup, Schroder made an incredibly bold statement about his German national team, as he believes it is the best team he’s ever played on, even when considering the NBA squads he’s played on during his career, according to BasketNews via Legion Hoops.
Dennis Schroder:
“I think this is the best team I’ve ever played on, whether it’s the NBA or national team.”

Even though Schroder has never won an NBA title during his career in the league, he has played for some incredibly talented teams, including a stacked Atlanta Hawks squad, the Oklahoma City Thunder with Russell Westbrook, and two stints with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The adrenaline was running high after Germany pulled off the upset over Team USA, so there’s a chance he could’ve said something in the heat of the moment.
However, it also could be a genuine statement from Schroder, as this German is talented and was able to do something no one anticipated, especially if they could go on to beat Serbia in the final, which upset Canada.
