The Dallas Cowboys have been producing some impressive offensive numbers this season, but the same can’t be said for their defense. It ranks 31st in yards allowed and points surrendered per game.
Fans are shaking their heads watching Dallas’ defense, and they want that to change as quickly as possible. After making two big acquisitions, one coach is facing immense pressure to turn the key unit around.
“The Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson at the trade deadline. The heat is on defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to turn around one of the league’s worst defenses and help the Cowboys get into the playoff mix,” Judy Battista wrote.
The Dallas offense has been so good that the defense needs only slight improvements for the team to contend for a playoff spot. But Eberflus has his work cut out for him.
Fans were happy to see the Cowboys acquire Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals, especially because they felt that it was a no-risk trade. Though Williams cost significant draft capital, he was an All-Pro with the New York Jets.
So, if Eberflus isn’t able to improve the defense quickly, there may be calls for him to get fired. Battista wrote that the “heat is on” Eberflus, so all eyes will be on the Cowboys when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11 on “Monday Night Football.”
