Robert Saleh’s tenure with the New York Jets left a lot to be desired.
The team had one of the best defenses in the game, but they were always one good quarterback away from the playoffs.
Notably, not even getting Aaron Rodgers was enough for him to turn things around.
Eventually, team owner Woody Johnson lost his patience and let him go midway through the season.
Now, he could have another opportunity to be the main guy.
According to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys will interview him for their head coaching opening.
The #Cowboys have interest in and are expected to interview former #Jets coach Robert Saleh for the vacant head coach position, source said. Would be their first known request.

Apparently, he will be their first-known interview so far.
The Cowboys couldn’t agree to terms on a contract extension with Mike McCarthy.
He will now listen to other offers and pursue an opportunity somewhere else.
There have been reports and rumors about the Cowboys also wanting Deion Sanders to leave Colorado to become their next head coach.
But, just like Rapoport commented, there haven’t been any formal talks about that.
Saleh did an outstanding job as a defensive coordinator in the past.
He could be just what the Cowboys need to fix their ever-struggling run defense.
The Jets’ once-great defense collapsed almost immediately after his dismissal.
However, judging by his record, it’s hard to argue that he should be the only person the Cowboys interview.
We will most likely hear updates about the process, and there should be no shortage of candidates currently under Jerry Jones’ consideration.
