The Denver Broncos‘ offense was just dealt a massive blow. Once again, star RB J.K. Dobbins will have to miss some time.
Sean Payton’s offense relies heavily on the running game, and with Dobbins set to miss the rest of the season, they will have to make some adjustments. At least, they have rookie RB R.J. Harvey.
Harvey has shown glimpses of strong play as a dual-threat running back. And, if you were to ask Courtland Sutton, he’s more than ready to embrace a bigger role. When asked about his rookie teammate, the Broncos’ star pass catcher had nothing but praise for him:
“The thing that’s scary is that I feel like he’s barely scratching the surface of his potential of what he can do in the league. I think guys are just now seeing a little bit of what he’s capable of,” Sutton said of Harvey.

Harvey has already shown that he can make an impact in an up-tempo offense. The rookie out of UCF has great hands as a receiver, and he’s also a willing and physical blocker.
The Broncos’ offense will also most likely have to rely on Bo Nix a little more, now that Dobbins won’t be out there. That could spell trouble, given his second-year regression, or be a blessing in disguise if Payton allows him to play with a faster pace.
Nix has looked much better in the two-minute offense, making quick throws to get into a rhythm. Having a mobile and shifty pass-catching running back like R.J. Harvey on the field more often might help the team be a little more dynamic, and it’ll be interesting to watch if he can be as big a factor as Sutton believes he can be.
