Sunday was a special day in the sports world and in society as a whole.
On the second Sunday of each May, Mother’s Day is celebrated, as we honor all the great moms who have given so much for the families and children.
The same can be said for mothers of Major League Baseball stars, who witnessed their sons work incredibly hard to achieve their dreams.
For St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar, the dream has been achieved.
And to add to the accomplishment, the young outfielder got a chance to say hello to his mother before the Cardinals prepared for their series finale against the Boston Red Sox.
On Twitter, MLB posted a video of Nootbaar and his mother’s reunion.

Nootbaar and his mother shared a touching reunion, and the young Cardinals outfielder was overcome with joy as he fought through emotional tears.
Nootbaar joked that he didn’t know why he was getting so emotional.
The two exchanged pleasantries, and Nootbaar’s mother thanked him for giving her flowers for her special day.
Nootbaar continued to fight through the tears and told his mom thank you for everything.
The two closed their conversation by expressing their love for one another.
After the conversation was over, the 25-year-old got back to work and continued his strong series at Fenway Park, picking up three hits as the Cardinals defeated the Red Sox by a final score of 9-1.
Nootbaar and his mother share a close bond that was on full display on Sunday night.
