Last night, the hero of the St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series run, St. Louis native David Freese, was in attendance as the Cards played host to the Colorado Rockies.
The hometown kid, as he was often referred to as, became famous for being the NLCS and World Series MVP that year, tying Game 6 of the Fall Classic with a triple when the Cards were down to their final strike, and later hitting a walk-off home run that lives on in Cardinals history.
The Cardinals took a moment to recognize their hometown hero last night, but as he saluted the crowd, a couple of his former teammates, Adam Wainwright and Albert Pujols, had a little fun with him when they tossed some gum his way.

Waino, Pujols, Have Some Fun With Freese
There’s nothing like getting poked fun at by some former teammates when you return home.
Pujols and Wainwright made sure to welcome the hometown hero back in style.
That was part of what made the 2011 Cardinals such a great team.
The players truly enjoyed being around one another and were never afraid to poke a little fun at each other.
The chemistry of the team is what drove them.
But this is the perfect way to welcome back a hometown hero, while also having a little bit of fun with him.
Pujols and Wainwright were veterans on that 2011 championship team, while Freese was just an up-and-comer, that is before he went on a tear in the playoffs.
This is a hilarious gesture by Pujols and Wainwright.
It’s just a nice sign of brotherly love, and a great way to welcome back a hero in style.
They sure enjoyed having their ex-teammate back in town and made sure to get on his case a little bit as he saluted the hometown crowd.
