After years of showing loyalty to the Washington Wizards, veteran guard Bradley Beal asked the team to trade him, resulting in a blockbuster deal that sent him to the Phoenix Suns to join forces with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
The deal sent shockwaves throughout the NBA as it makes the Suns that much more imposing moving forward with three star players leading the way.
With Beal now in Phoenix as arguably the third-best player on the team, he will take a backseat to two other stars, which is something he’s never done in his career.
Beal has been the No. 1 option in Washington for quite some time, and that was never more apparent than when Marc J. Spears of ESPN dropped this little tidbit about the former Wizards star leaving town so close to setting a record.
I didn’t realize until today that new Suns guard Bradley Beal was a mere 161 points away from surpassing Elvin Hayes (15,551) as the Washington Wizards-Bullets all-time leading scorer.

Becoming the Wizards’ all-time leading scorer would’ve been quite an accomplishment for Beal, but he’s clearly got a new goal in mind, as he has a legitimate chance to win an NBA title for the first time in his career.
Although it remains to be seen how Durant, Booker, and Beal will all coexist in Phoenix, these three stars all seem to be on the same page in terms of being at a point in their career where winning is the most important thing.
It’s safe to say that the Suns will head into the 2023-24 NBA season as the team with the most pressure to live up to expectations, even though the consensus is that the Denver Nuggets will be the team to beat for many years to come with the duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray intact.
