The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t perform like they wanted to in Week 10, and quarterback Baker Mayfield is well aware of that. He admitted that his team did not execute in the home loss to the New England Patriots.
Afterward, Mayfield revealed that the Bucs need to make some changes if they wish to remain atop the NFC South. Knowing what they did wrong is important, but it only matters if Tampa Bay addresses it quickly.
“When asked specifically what the offense is missing, Mayfield said ‘killer instinct’ and they’ll need to find it before they get to Buffalo next Sunday if they want to ensure they remain the top dog in the NFC South down the stretch,” Josh Alper wrote.
The statement from Mayfield is a clear message to the rest of his teammates that it’s time for the Buccaneers to do better. Thankfully, they have reason to believe that’s possible.
The Bucs have been consistent all season with six wins in nine games. A big part of that has been Mayfield, who has maintained a fiery attitude and leadership style through it all.
He did have three touchdown passes against the Patriots, but he knows there is room for improvement. That’s true for everyone, not just his teammates.
If he wants them to have a more intense determination and a “killer instinct,” it’ll have to start with him. The Bucs will prove a lot by showing how they respond to this defeat.
