If you think you’ve had a great summer, think twice, as Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves has definitely done better.
The Arkansas native signed a life-changing contract extension, got a sneaker deal, and was called up to represent Team USA in the FIBA World Cup in the Philippines.
Reaves has been one of the best players on the national team throughout the tournament, and many more great things could be coming his way in the foreseeable future.
When asked about all those accomplishments, Reaves talked about how thankful he was for everything, but he also acknowledged that he’s earned every single thing he’s gotten lately (via Nicole Ganglani).
Signing a long-term contract with the Lakers, a signature sneaker deal, and now competing for Team USA: It’s been an incredible summer for Austin Reaves.
How does he feel about all this?

Reaves states that he’s never taken any shortcuts and has never stopped working to achieve his goals, so as blessed as he feels, he also knows it’s only his right.
His work ethic made him go from undrafted to signing a deal with the Lakers and now becoming the starting shooting guard for one of the most storied franchises in sports history.
Also, his great play with Team USA is proving that he’s not just a system player.
He’s doing a lot of things on both ends of the floor, embracing his role and doing whatever his team asks and needs of him to get the job done.
Reaves is a humble and down-to-earth guy; he’s a simple young man.
But that doesn’t mean he’s not aware of all the grind and hard work he’s put in, so he has every right to feel like he deserves this and more.
