The Green Bay Packers need to unleash Jordan Love.
They have a gunslinger at quarterback, but their play-calling is holding him back.
Analyst Nathan Marzion recently pointed out that Love is making more throws behind the line of scrimmage than he did earlier in the season.
“25% of Jordan Love’s pass attempts over the last 6 games have been behind the line of scrimmage, 2nd highest behind only Kyler Murray. Only 13% of his pass attempts in that span have been in the intermediate area (10-19 yards), which is the 3rd lowest,” Marzion wrote on X. “What’s weird is that to start the season it was the opposite. In the first 2 weeks, 30% of his attempts were intermediate, only 11% behind the line of scrimmage, he had the highest aDOT in the league by far, and the team looked great! Since then it’s been very conservative.”

Once again, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, who is their offensive playcaller, has been extremely conservative, even though that approach has rarely worked for the team.
Love is one of the best intermediate and deep passers in the game, and not making the most of his arm is a disservice to his skills.
LaFleur is very good at scheming receivers open and designing creative plays, but that can only do so much if the Packers don’t maximize it.
It feels like the Packers have a sports car in the garage and LaFleur refuses to take it out on the highway.
Love was playing the most efficient football of his career, but he’s not being allowed to do what he does best.
The Packers need to go back to what worked before it comes back to haunt them again.
