Aaron Rodgers is working to regain his rhythm before the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Chicago Bears this weekend. The quarterback sustained a left wrist injury during the first half of Pittsburgh’s Week 11 win over Cincinnati and missed Wednesday’s practice as a result.
Rodgers carries a 12-3 career record against Chicago from his Green Bay Packers days, and the prospect of facing the Bears again drew attention heading into the matchup. When asked if there was added motivation in returning to a familiar opponent, the 41-year-old quarterback offered a perspective on his history with the organization.
“There’s incentive for every opponent, but I have enjoyed many a Sunday and Monday and Thursdays in that city,” Rodgers said.
#Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers (wrist injury) on if there’s added incentive to play this week since it’s the Bears in Chicago — a team he’s said he “owns”:

The quarterback attempted to distance himself from the villain narrative that defined his time in the NFC North, suggesting he has moved beyond that chapter now that he no longer plays for Green Bay. He acknowledged how the rivalry has evolved over time, noting that the Bears once controlled the series before the Packers reversed that trend. Rodgers pointed to Jordan Love’s success in Green Bay as part of that momentum shift.
Despite his attempts to move forward from the rivalry, Rodgers expressed doubt that Chicago fans will let the past go. He reiterated his genuine appreciation for the city itself, separate from the competitive history.
For Steelers fans, the silver lining is that Rodgers made clear his injury stems from Sunday’s game rather than any lingering issue. The injury occurred late in the second quarter when Rodgers fell backward while attempting to throw the ball away, landing awkwardly on his wrist after the play.
He managed one more snap before halftime but did not return after the break. His status for this weekend remains something to monitor closely as Pittsburgh prepares for the NFC North leaders.
