NBA legend Michael Jordan has decided to take a step back in his role as the Charlotte Hornets owner, as he has agreed to sell his majority stake in the team and hand off the responsibility of running the struggling franchise to someone else.
However, his last act as majority owner was to make the No. 2 in the 2023 NBA Draft, which got a lot of buzz this week, with no telling whether he’d go with Brandon Miller out of the University of Alabama or NBA G League Ignite’s Scoot Henderson.
Ultimately, Jordan chose to go with Miller as his final pick as owner, and that was documented in the following video of him calling the rookie to inform him he’d been selected by Charlotte, according to the Hornets’ Twitter account via Hoop Central.

Ahead of the NBA Draft, Miller made some interesting and frankly questionable comments to the media when being asked if Jordan was the GOAT in his opinion.
Miller said that the six-time NBA champion was not the GOAT in his mind and that Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers is the player he used to look up to growing up.
These comments got taken out of context, but it did make some wonder if it impacted the team’s upcoming decision, which obviously it did not.
Miller will be a welcome addition in Charlotte as part of a one-two punch with LaMelo Ball, as he is a knockdown shooter and a talented scorer that could fit in perfectly with the Hornets.
