The Boston Celtics have five guys who can step up on any given night.
That kind of depth often makes the players have less impressive numbers than they would’ve had somewhere else.
And, given their history of shortcomings in big moments, that has often taken a toll on Jaylen Brown’s reputation.
That’s why Udonis Haslem was happy to see him finally get his flowers by winning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP award.
Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” the Miami Heat legend stated that Brown was the most consistent player in the series.

He claimed that this would’ve been a completely different series if he hadn’t hit that huge three-pointer in Game 1, adding that he’s a very underrated player who rarely gets the credit he deserves because he plays second fiddle to Jayson Tatum.
That’s a fair assessment; people often try to make it seem like it’s either one guy or the other instead of praising both of them.
On top of that, the fact that he recently became the highest-paid player in the Association has changed the narrative around him, as he’s obviously held to a different kind of standard.
But at the end of the day, Brown is an All-NBA, All-Star-caliber player and one of the best two-way guards in the league.
Ring culture has made the fans stop appreciating some of the best players in the game, and unfortunately, that’s not going to change any time soon, especially if the Celtics don’t win the NBA Finals this time.
