Saturday marked yet another instance of the animal kingdom and the sports world being intertwined.
It’s so rare that this takes place, but you never know when it’s going to happen.
In 1969, the Chicago Cubs had the black cat near Ron Santo in the on-deck circle.
Saturday was a little bit different than that.
During the game between the Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles, a butterfly decided to hang out around the Twins’ dugout.
It even found a landing spot, right on Twins manager Rocco Baldelli’s nose.

On Twitter, MLB posted a video of the butterfly landing on Baldelli’s nose.
This butterfly certainly picked an interesting place to land.
Fortunately, Baldelli didn’t seem to mind.
After the butterfly flew near him and caught his attention, it ultimately chose to take a rest.
And Baldelli didn’t even fight it.
He simply stood there and let the butterfly have its fun.
The Twins would go on to win their game on Saturday against the Orioles by a final score of 1-0.
And so, perhaps the Twins have something they can rally behind, that being a “rally butterfly.”
It always makes for an interesting story when baseball and wildlife intersect with one another.
Fortunately, Baldelli was perfectly okay with it.
The Twins ended up getting a strong start out of Bailey Ober, who went seven shutout innings and allowed just two hits.
The only run of the game came on Joey Gallo’s home run.
It could ultimately be that the butterfly gave the Twins a little extra push, similarly to how the St. Louis Cardinals once benefitted from the “rally squirrel.”
