When the 2025 NFL season started, Green Bay Packers fans were unsure how the wide receiver room would play out and who Jordan Love’s favorite pass-catchers would be.
Adding Matthew Golden in the first round was a big move, but it remained to be seen how much he’d be utilized in the passing game.
Golden has been quiet thus far, still waiting for a breakout moment, and with Jayden Reed out, Love has needed to get more creative with his passes.
A lack of an alpha receiver has been great news for tight end Tucker Kraft, the team’s leader in receiving yards through seven games.
Kraft is undoubtedly excited about his increased workload, but he’s also ready for others to take some of that off his plate, as he mentioned via Rob Demovsky in a recent ESPN article.
“That’s a guy right there who has been battling his tail off for the last year,” Kraft said of Christian Watson. “Coming in, not missing a day. You can’t. You have a reconstructive surgery like that, you can’t miss a day. That’s just a credit to him and all the work he’s put in. He’s a great guy, he’s a good father, amazing teammate. I’m very glad to have him back on our team.”
Kraft was complimentary of Christian Watson coming back as quickly as he did, as he had a miraculously fast recovery after an ACL tear.
Having Watson back in the fold is great news for everybody involved in Green Bay, as it gives them another downfield threat for defenses to watch out for.
Love is playing inspired, MVP-level football at the moment, and having more options frees him up that much more each play.
It will be interesting to see how the yards, touchdowns, and receptions play out for the Packers’ pass-catchers by the end of the season, and if Watson can establish himself as WR1 when it’s all said and done.
