The New York Mets have been looking for offensive production all season long.
They were hoping catcher Tomas Nido would be able to do a solid job as catcher.
But that has not been the case.
The Mets will now look to trade Nido after they designated him for assignment.
He was given 22 games this season to show he can be a key piece but failed to do so.
That is why the Mets have decided to move forward with Francisco Alvarez and Omar Narvaez.
Yet, Nido still had a respectable career during his time with the Mets.
SNY Mets on Twitter shouted out Nido for his time as a Met.

Despite the 220 starts that Nido accumulated, he was never able to do much with his bat.
He is a career .213 hitter and only hit 13 home runs in 274 total games.
But, he was most relied on behind the plate, where he was a Gold Glove finalist in 2022.
The 29-year-old now hopes he can carve out a role with another team.
He may have to spend some time in the minor leagues before doing so but another team will take a chance on him.
As for the Mets, they feel confident in their catchers with Nido no longer on the roster.
Alvarez was the number-one prospect in baseball and has shown flashes of greatness this year.
He is the guy the Mets hope can be their backstop for many years to come.
