The Tennessee Titans are on the clock.
Not literally, of course, but with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans have an opportunity to transform the future of their franchise with the right player.
They do need a quarterback, a position that some believe they should go after, but others are under the impression that they will attack another position.
The team hasn’t said much about who they are thinking of taking, but they have mentioned the player they’re targeting to be a “generational” talent.
Many believe the 2025 draft class to be much weaker than several of the past years, and few players are viewed in this light.
One of them is Abdul Carter, a highly sought-after edge-rushing prospect from Penn State.
Carter has received praise for several years, and judging by his tape and acclaim, he should make a major impact at the highest level.
Jeffrey Simmons, one of the Titans’ defensive tackles, agrees with this assessment, saying as much in a recent appearance on Deebo Samuel’s podcast.
“I’m gonna start on the defensive side of the ball. We need another edge rusher. That guy from Penn State, Abdul Carter, he’s a dawg,” Simmons said.

Simmons would like another high-end option on the defensive line with him, and Carter could certainly provide that for him and this team.
The Titans have the No. 1 pick for a reason, and they have plenty of holes to fill besides an edge rusher.
However, if Carter performs as well as many believe he will, it would certainly be a great head start in building a strong defense around him.
