The Minnesota Timberwolves are Anthony Edwards’ team now, or at least they should be.
That’s why the fans will be quite disappointed to know that the former No. 1 pick won’t be on the floor for tonight’s preseason opener vs. the Dallas Mavericks due to an ankle injury (via NBACentral).

It’s not unusual to see the best players missing time early in the preseason, and given that this is the first time we heard about this injury, there shouldn’t be too much to read into or reasons to be worried.
Edwards is coming off a long summer.
He didn’t take much time off before joining Team USA’s camp ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup, and he was one of the guys with the most minutes on the team.
He burst onto the worldwide scene by leading the national team, and while they weren’t able to get the job done, he proved to be a superstar in the making.
Starters don’t usually play a lot of minutes in preseason games, especially the first ones, so it’s not like he was going to be on the floor for long anyways.
Edwards has all the talent in the world and is coming off an offseason working with the cream of the crop in terms of young players, and that should give his development a major boost.
