There was a lot of hype around James Wiseman of the Golden State Warriors before the 2022-23 season began.
Although he missed the previous season due to a knee injury, Wiseman was good in 2020-21 with an average of 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds.
The return of Wiseman was seen as a chance for the Warriors to get a lot better, especially defensively.
It hasn’t turned out that way.

Because of his struggles, Wiseman is now being sent to the Warriors’ G League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Wiseman is going to be playing for the team for up to 10 days and the hope is that the 21-year-old center will be able to perfect his game and improve his skills during that time.
Why is this necessary and will it result in the outcome the Warriors want?
Wiseman Struggling
So far this season, Wiseman has averaged 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and a single assist in 13.4 minutes across 11 games.
This is not the sort of player the Warriors were expecting.
You can’t necessarily blame the young man since he spent an entire year off the court, which is sure to have a huge impact on a player’s ability.
Still, the Warriors need Wiseman to step up because he really has been seen as the future of the team.
Wiseman hasn’t played a game since the Warriors faced off against the San Antonio Spurs.
During that game, he put up just 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.
The hope is that playing in the G League will allow Wiseman to get a lot more time with the ball.
Indeed, he will be the biggest star on the team and will be able to play as much as he wants and get a lot of practice in.
He said he doesn’t see this move as a demotion and that’s the sort of attitude the Warriors want him to have.
