The 2022 NFL Draft was filled with an incredible amount of talent, and it looks like all of these players will be making a marked impact on their respective teams for years to come.
However, one team has risen above the rest in terms of the output and production of their rookies.
Compared to all @NFL rookie corps in 2022, @Lions rookies ranked:
– 1st in sacks (20.5)
– 1st in TFLs (26)
– 1st in FRs (4)
– t-1st in INTs (7)
– t-4th in FFs (3)#OnePride pic.twitter.com/ZJEgTRC9Eo— Detroit Lions PR (@LionsPR) January 10, 2023
The Detroit Lions had one of the most impressive comeback seasons in recent memory.
In 2021, they were 3-13-1, but finished their 2022 season at 9-8, and the team looks like they have hope for the foreseeable future.
A big part of their newfound success has come from the spectacular play of their rookies.
They are first in four statistical categories, including interceptions, tackles for loss, and sacks.
Of their rookie contributors, defensive linemen Aidan Hutchinson and Kerby Joseph have come up with some huge plays when the team has needed them most.
For one example, in particular, Joseph has intercepted Aaron Rodgers three times this season.
His spectacular play has made a huge difference to the Lions’ secondary.
Hutchinson has quickly become a lethal force as a defensive end and has already cemented himself as somebody to watch moving forward.
In his rookie season, Hutchinson has amassed 52 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and three interceptions.
If Hutchinson doesn’t win Defensive Rookie of the Year this season, we will be utterly flabbergasted.
His impact on the Lions cannot be understated, and as long as he is on the field, the Lions have a great chance to win, or at the very least, compete.
