Just when things were starting to look somewhat good for the Los Angeles Lakers, the other shoe dropped.
And it was a big, big shoe.
Anthony Davis injured his foot and is now out for the foreseeable future.
The team says that their star player will miss at least a month due to this latest injury.
Anthony Davis’ foot injury could sideline the Lakers forward for longer than 1 month sources tell @BallySports.

But several reports state that the situation could be far worse than that.
In fact, according to Brandon Robinson of Bally Sports, “some on the Lakers side of things fear that the injury could sideline Davis for 2-3 months.”
Losing Davis for that long is all but a death sentence for LA’s 2022-23 season and if that comes to pass, they might as well throw in the towel and call it a day.
This injury could literally change the future of the team.
Done With Davis?
There are some people crying out for the Lakers to make a big trade as soon as possible now that Davis is on the bench.
These people claim it’s the only way to keep the team somewhat competitive during Davis’ absence.
Yet, other people think that the Lakers should just sit still and not do a thing.
If Davis truly is done for several months then the Lakers should save their draft picks, not pursue any trades, consider this season done, and wait for free agency and the offseason to make any moves.
No Davis for a few months would sink the Lakers into such a hole that making any immediate trades wouldn’t be enough to help them.
So why not just let this season pass and hope for a strong summer when there are more free agents and more chances to reassemble the roster?
We will see what happens in the weeks ahead but the Lakers might be at a major crossroads right now.
