With Week 18 here, many NFL teams are officially out of playoff contention and don’t have anything to play for.
After a promising start, the New York Jets are one of those teams who are out of the playoff picture.
The Jets were 6-3 heading into the bye week and in a perfect position to fight for a playoff spot.
Since then, the Jets have gone 1-6 and lost five straight games to fall completely out of the picture.
Quarterback Zach Wilson struggled so much that Joe Flacco and Mike White earned starts this season, and the former No. 2 overall pick has a murky future after this season ends.
White, who had been the starter, is ruled out for Week 18 with a rib injury, and it would only make sense for the Jets to get one final look at Wilson.
However, that’s not the case.

With White ruled out, it will be veteran Joe Flacco getting the start against the Miami Dolphins.
Flacco, who turns 38 later in January, has played in four games this season with three starts, throwing for 902 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.
This will be Flacco’s fourth start of the year, and for perspective, White started four games, with Wilson getting nine starting nods.
So, instead of playing a young quarterback and getting another in-person look, the Jets are deciding to roll with a veteran QB who might be playing in the final game of his career.
This is yet another confusing move by the Jets, and the quarterback turmoil continues.
