The Houston Texans face a potential transition at long snapper as Jon Weeks, a cornerstone of the team since 2010, enters free agency at age 39.
Weeks’ remarkable run includes appearing in all 244 games over the past 15 seasons, but his future with the team remains uncertain as the organization looks ahead.
Taking steps to secure the position, the Texans reportedly have reached an agreement with Tucker Addington on a reserve-future deal.
“The Texans are signing long snapper Tucker Addington to a futures deal that includes $10,000 in bonus money, per his agent Rob Sheets,” NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero wrote on X. “Addington has appeared in 10 games with three NFL teams, including New England and Miami last year.”

This isn’t Addington’s first brush with the Texans, as he had an opportunity with the team last offseason, though it didn’t result in a contract.
He then joined the Miami Dolphins, where he played against the Texans in Week 15.
Now, after completing a season with Miami, Addington finds himself back in Houston.
His NFL journey spans three teams and 10 games, four with the New England Patriots in 2022 and three each with the Washington Commanders and Dolphins in 2024.
For Addington, this opportunity marks a return to familiar territory.
The 27-year-old has Texas roots, from his high school days to his college career at Sam Houston State.
Now, after several seasons moving between teams, Addington aims to establish himself with the Texans, potentially succeeding one of the league’s most consistent long snappers.
