The Houston Texans will look significantly different in 2023 than they did in 2022.
For starters, they used early first-round capital on both C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., and both are slated to make a year-one impact.
The latest conversation about the team has revolved around Tytus Howard, who could be in for a contract extension, per a Houston-based news station.
Former first-round draft pick Tytus Howard is currently due $13.2M, a fifth-year club option. Sources say Howard is expected to be in the Texans’ plans for a potential big-time contract extension. https://t.co/UPpfh9mopa

Howard was a first-round draft pick in 2019, a highly-regarded offensive lineman.
With Stroud likely to start for the Texans, having a solid offensive line is a great way for a rookie quarterback to start in the NFL.
Howard made the PWFA All-Rookie Team in 2019 and has started in 54 games since 2019.
The team has already made their intentions clear about Howard, given that they picked up his fifth-year option.
In his conversation with KPRC in Houston, Howard indicated that his contract could be resolved during the 2023 offseason.
“We haven’t started yet, but, hopefully, we can work toward getting something done,” Howard said.
He later doubled down on wanting to stay in Houston for the foreseeable future, saying, “I want to finish my career here.”
Since the departure of Deshaun Watson, the Texans have found themselves in a difficult spot.
They haven’t made the playoffs since 2019, which was the last time they won more than four games.
With any luck, adding players like Anderson and Stroud will reinvigorate both the locker room and their fanbase, resulting in a positive season.
The AFC South could be wide open this season, potentially leaving an opening for the Texans to find success in Stroud’s first year.
