Major League Baseball fans finally got an answer on where top free agent Juan Soto is going to play in 2025.
Soto headlined this year’s free agent class and he had been in talks with teams such as the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays.
The decision was made by Soto to join the stay in New York, but with the Mets, as he agreed to a 15-year deal worth $765 million with the team.
Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona gave his thoughts on the Soto deal and what surprised him the most.
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale on ‘X,’ Francona said he was the most shocked by the $75 million signing bonus that Soto received.
Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona when asked if he was shocked at Juan Soto’s 15-year, $765 million contract? ‘ I was shocked at the ($75M signing) bonus.’’

Francona appeared to throw some sarcasm out when asked if he was shocked about the deal that Soto agreed to with the Mets.
Soto’s 15-year deal worth $765 million is the highest in MLB history, passing the $700 million deal that Shohei Ohtani signed with the Dodgers last offseason.
After managing in the MLB since 1997, Francona has seen just about everything, and his comments on the contract appear puzzling.
Francona’s comments were likely sarcastic due to not knowing how to react to the contract.
The Soto contract will likely get more reactions once the news has some time to set in and people can gather their thoughts on the surprise ending to the Soto sweepstakes.
