Kansas City Chiefs tight end took a few shots at the media on a recent episode of New Heights, the podcast he hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
The rant effectively called out media members who criticized the Chiefs’ skill position players who’ve made critical mistakes this season, including wide receiver Kadarius Toney for his infamous offsides penalty at the end of the Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Kelce said that responsibility for the team’s mistakes falls on the whole team and that the media shouldn’t point fingers at only a few people.
But Stephan A. Smith wasn’t having any of it – especially the criticism of the media.
The ESPN television personality pointed out the Chiefs’ league-leading drops by pass-catchers as evidence enough as to who is to blame for Kansas City’s failures this season.
“You got 33 damn drops on this season,” Smith said, via “First Take.” I don’t want to hear no nonsense about the media. Travis Kelce, you know where to find me, bro.”

Smith’s point is this: Media member’s criticisms of the Chiefs’ pass-catchers is warranted because they’re the ones who’ve made the mistakes.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t having a great statistical season, but his on-target pass percentage still ranks sixth in the league at 79.6 percent.
The Chiefs offensive line has given up the fewest sacks in the league and the running backs are tied for seventh in rushing yards per carry this season at 4.4 yards per attempt.
So if the quarterback, the offensive line, and the running backs aren’t to blame, the only ones left to explain the Chiefs’ worst offensive output since 2016 are … the pass-catchers.
