The Pittsburgh Steelers continued their streak of seasons over .500 in 2024, which is not a small feat by any means.
While the Steelers are great at staying over .500, their postseason record during that streak has left something to be desired.
Mike Tomlin is viewed as one of the best coaches in the league, and yet, his teams have a hard time winning when it matters most.
With that in mind, some analysts and fans are starting to wonder if it’s time for the Steelers to have a rebuilding period, perhaps dealing some of their best pieces.
Andrew Fillipponi seems to be an advocate for that approach, as he suggested in a recent post on X.
He asked fellow Steelers fans if they would be comfortable trading away T.J. Watt, especially if the compensation was a second-round pick in 2025 and a first-round pick in 2026.
Would you trade TJ Watt for a 2025 2nd round pick and 2026 1st round pick?
I would.

He seems okay with that proposition, but this would also mean that the Steelers would lose their top defender.
Watt is not only the best player on the Steelers’ defense, but he’s regarded as one of the best in the entire league.
Losing him could be a major blow, but if they can get a lot of compensation for him, it could be worth it if they are truly looking to rebuild.
This team had a lot of problems down the stretch, and it seems like they are more than one player away from contending.
Is it time to cut ties with a familiar, dominant face?
